Q: How can i get relief for nerve pain, maybe some kind of home remedity?
I have a knot in a muscle in my left shoulder, causing nerve pain to shoot down my arm, and now it hurts so bad I can’t even massage it .
Iv’e been to the doctors, going on four months now. i got a cortizone shot which 3 weeks ago, which easied the pain, and went for an mri last week , they still can’t do anything for me. it hurts so bad now. i.m just looking for something that could ease the pain somewhat. shots , therapy doesn’t work. Some massage tecnique, a gel, or rub. honey, magnet, anything. Please help!!

A: have you tried a muscle relaxer such as zanaflex? also moist heat 3 to 4 time a day helps loosen the muscle. I get knots in my neck and back due to fibromyalgia. They get very big and hurt so much sometimes I can’t move my head. I get injections of lidocaine and a steroid in the knots about every 6 weeks it is a tempory fix but helps quite a bit. It usually helps the pain for about 4 to 41/2 weeks.

Q: Non-prescription nerve pain relief?
I am recovering from a traumatic iv start attempt. The nerve in my arm was irritated. Is there any non-prescription relief I can get?

A: Whatever you do, clear it with your physician first.

Q: Nerve Pain Relief? (10 points)?
about 6 weeks ago I broke my leg (tib-fib break).. anyways, right after the break I was diagnosed with Compartment Syndrome (a muscle eating syndrome which I will not go into detail about). The cure for this is 3 consecutive surgeries in the leg. There are two incisions, about 6 – 8 inches long on the right and left side of my leg. These have cause my nerves to basically “reset” and now when they’re touched they don’t know how to react (causing pretty serious pain). My doctor knows about this and apparently, it’s normal. However, he didn’t have any suggestions on how I could relieve the pain.. do you?

10 POINTS!

A: I agree with medication or a TENS unit.

Also, would add to consider acupuncture.

Q: Pain relief for a pinched nerve?
I may have a pinched nerve on my lower back going down my leg and it hurts. I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday but I just wanna know what will help relief the pain until then.

A: yes that is your Sciatic nerve that runs down the back of your leg from your back….painful to say the least…You defientely need an anti-inflamatory medication to help…..ibuprofen will help with that …your doctor can RX a medrol dose pack which will help tremendously…..its a steroid pack that takes the inflammation away and should relive the problem for you…..

try heat or ice…whichever feels better…..and rest….

hope this helps you till you can see your doctor…

Q: good home remedy pain relief for a tooth that has an infected nerve?
my molar has an infected nerve i was to get a root canal in january but i lost my job and i still have no benefits and the pain is horrible. tylenol is the best thing so far but it only lasts for lie 2 hours. i am on an antibiotic also.

A: Salt water is great for gum problems or sores in your mouth. However the nerve of the tooth is underneath the enamel and dentin, so topical remedies will have no effect. You need to go to the emergency room or urgent care, they will see you with no money, and get a prescription for different antibiotics. If you develop swelling in the area you need to have it drained. You either need to either have the tooth extracted or get the root canal. An extraction will only cost $100.00 or so plus x rays and exam. Look in the yellow pages for a low cost dental office.

Q: Home / self applied relief from sciatica nerve pain? I go to a chiropractor 3x per week and it does help, but
what can I do for relief when I am at home?

A: First thing you need to do is FIND a reason for the sciatica? No point in seeing a chiropractor if you do not know the reason for the pain? Is it mechanical, postural, inflammation, the list goes on. Therefore see a Doctor and get the reason for the pain. Best of Luck

Q: pain relief with Sciatic nerve?
I have a sciatic nerve problem the pain is in my lower back, my bum and my thigh feels like its been punched. Vicodon doesn’t help I also have tried Motrin. The doc gave me Valium and I have xanax. I just would prefer something that isn’t going to zonk me out. Any sugestions? I just got back from an MRI but don’t have results.

A: standing in a swimming pool with water up to your shoulders, inversion therapy (hanging upside down on a anti-grav machine) can help.

Also look into therapuetic massage and accupuncture

Q: Is there any relief for pain caused by a severed nerve in the leg?
My fiance sustained an injury to his left leg (he was stabbed in the back of the calf while in the army), and during surgery to repair damaged arteries, a nerve was accidentally severed. He now has constant tingling in his leg from the stab wound down to his toes, and it hurts all the time. It is worse when he has been very active, and sometimes he has trouble falling asleep because of the pain and tingling. Does anyone know of any long-term medicatons that could help or any surgeries he could have done to eradicate the tingling and pain?

A: will unfortunately there isn’t much that can be done. heating pads and soaking in a tub in warm water for 15 minutes a day can help ease it. even if he had to to do many surg4eries to fix it i doubt it will really go away. he should try maybe a muscle relaxer or or some thing like that. maybe increase calcium intake. warm baths for 15 minutes in maybe some Epsom salt. and warming it up before exercise maybe. some massaging it maybe to help relax it.

Q: Back Pain Relief, Possibly Sciatic Nerve?
Ever since I gave birth, my lower back has been killing me ( it’s been 6 months now). The left side feels like muscle pain, and the right feels like I pinched my sciatic nerve. What is the best way to get relief from this pain or gradually get rid of it?

A: I developed a bulging disc between lumbar 4 and 5 by running too much on the jogging trail and developed sciatica down my left leg.
I’ll tell you what I did. You’ll have to decide what is
applicable in your case.

1) My chiropractor recommended taking daily doses of 100 mg. of Vitamin B6. It strengthens nerve insulation. I noticed an improvement in 4 to 6 weeks.

2) Aleve is a good NSAID medication that is sold over the counter.
The doctor can prescribe a stronger form of the drug in the name Naproxen. The doctor can also prescribe Tramadol which is a narcotic and good pain reliever.
Back ice packs are a good idea also.Usually they can be placed around the waist
area for the best relief.
(They connect with velcro) You can buy them at most pharmacies
— example at the site below:

3) The lunge exercise is good for sciatic conditions.
An example is at the bottom of this site:

4) I bought the Teeter inversion table. You can invert yourself partially
or completely for spine decompression. It feels great to take the pressure off of the lower lumbar area.
It costs a few hundred but I like it. This is the best bang for the
buck as far as I’m concerned. Your case doesn’t seem to be related to a bulging disk, but maybe using this for spine decompression may help.

Q: sciatic nerve pain natural relief vitamin,or?

A: Physical therapy is THE way to go. Also, see a chiropractor.

Q: ciadic nerve pain….any relief suggestions?
hurts more toward end of the day when i try to walk or get up and down

A: You can have a steroid/narcotic/anesthetic injection in your lumbar spine that will ease this pain. Although you need to find out why you are having the pain. Pulled muscle, slipped disk? Find the underlying cause.
