Q: Any tips for chronic pelvic pain in women?
My mother has severe Pelvic pain since her ablation is there any she can do other than pain pills?

A: She may be able to try something like a heating pad or even consult a physical therapist to see if there might be something out of alignment, but because of the pain she’s still having since her procedure I would recommend that she see her doctor again for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.

Q: what are the causes for deep pelvic pain in women?suggest clinical and laboratory investigations and treatment
suggest step-by – step approach for diagnosis and treatment of deep pelvic pain in women

A: Any patient presenting with pelvic pain should be considered initially for a diagnosis of Endometriosis.

Upon presentation of pelvic pain, patient should be prescribed a course of NSAIDs or oral contaceptives. If successful, maintain drug therapy. If not;

Rule out obvious pelvic pathology through Doppler. If evidence of other pathology is found, treat accordingly. If no pathology is found or if Endometriosis continues to be suspected, proceed to operative intervention.

Removal of all disease from pelvis and surrounding abdominal cavity through meticulous exicison offers best success for long term relief and improved fertililty. Where operator is limited in excision skills and/or excision is otherwise impossible, extensive vaporization and restoral of normal pelvic anatomy is recommended. If successful, watchful waiting for symptom recurrence may be adopted. If failure;

Course of Aromatase Inhibitors, Danazol, GnRH agonist or other suppressive medication may be warranted for a course of 6 months. If successful, watchful waiting may be adopted. If failure;

Patient should be referred to tertiary treatment center specializing in excision of Endometriosis and/or RE for IVF protocols if pregnancy is desired.

There are lab tests which can diagnose Endometriosis; likewise, diagnostic intervention such as MRI etc. are not definitive. Surgical diagnosis is required. CA125 elevations are not accurate, as the levels are elevated in women with Endo who do not have malignancy.

Suggest following protocols offered at specialty centers such as Redwine, Albee, et.al. – www.endometriosistreatment.org, www.centerfornendo.com for – best patient success.

Q: Are there other women out there with undiagnosed pelvic pain after having a C-section?
None of my friends have had problems after their c-section, but I am still having pain after 17 months after having my baby. I even had adhesions removed 3 months ago, and that helped, but I still feel like I am lugging a cement bag in my pelvis. Just curious if anyone else experiences, as misery loves company!

A: I have had 3 c-sections and yes , i feel that way too. But i have bad ovaries and they always lay my pain on that and scar tissue. I have had a partial hysterectomy, but nothing has helped pelvic pain, and i’m really not sure why since they always tell me its scar tissue. Good luck….

Q: does prolonged sex abstention or having no sexual relationship cause pelvic pain in women?
mother of one has had no sexual relationship for more than ten years and has pelvic pain which is not responding to treatments.

A: oh yes. cant say why but it happens too me and my god-mother your pelvic is so used to the stimulation, and it aches when it isn’t messed with. i would sill go to eh doctor cause i found out i had fibroids. and scar tissue.

Q: Sharp Stabbing Pelvic Pain!! Women/MD’s please read!?
I am having a lot of pain in my pelvic area. it feels like my ovaries are being stabbed, along with what feels like my uterus, but I guess i’m not sure. Its been off and on jolts of pain for about a month, and these past 3 days, its a continuous dull pain with very sharp stabbing pains off and on, even in my sleep. I am getting concerned.

I am 21,and I haven’t had regular periods for almost 4 years. I sometimes go without a period for 6 or even 10 months at a time. I’d say I’ve had menstrual-like bleeding about 8 times in 3 years. I have been on the pill for 7 years, and use as prescribed.

I also have high risk HPV and get checked ever 6 months. I guess i’m concerned about cervical cancer, and also pregnancy, since I probably wouldn’t know if I was, since I dont ever expect to have a period.

Please shed some insight if you know anything about gyno health or have experienced something similar.

A: I had the same thing and was told that I have cysts on my ovaries.

A: You could possibly have an ovarian cyst or a ruptured ovarian cyst.

An ovarian cyst is a fluid filled sac located near the ovaries. Cysts can occur anywhere in the body and are normally non-cancerous and not harmful when left to heal itself.

However, a ruptured ovarian cyst can potentially be very harmful and can produce Life Threatening symptoms.

A common cause of when ruptured ovarian cysts can occur on the ovaries is when you do not release enough luteinizing hormone. This causes eggs to remain attached onto follicles and later develop into cysts and eventually into a ruptured ovarian cyst.

Ruptured ovarian cyst symptoms will vary depending on the individual. However, here are some typical symptoms that could be linked to ruptured ovarian cysts:

- Menstrual irregularities
- Pelvic pain, a constant or intermittent dull ache that may radiate to your lower back and thighs
- Pelvic pain shortly before your period begins or just before it ends
-Pelvic pain during intercourse (dyspareunia)
- Nausea, vomiting or breast tenderness similar to that experienced during pregnancy
- Fullness or heaviness in your abdomen
- Pressure on your rectum or bladder, difficulty emptying your bladder completely.

If you suspect you may be suffering from ruptured ovarian cyst and also experiencing severe pain then it is best to consult your doctor or to visit the hospital.

I wish you the Best!! =)

umm. i forgot to tell u that she had eye laser surgery 2 months ago…..i’m not sure if that is part of it????thanks for response guys though

A: It sounds like something else is going on here. Maybe she should see a doctor?
I know that didn’t happen to me or anyone I know after we had sex our first times.

Q: Question about pelvic pain in women?
Has anybody ever pelvic pain that turned out to be something related to their bowel? I’ve been having pains in the very low right quadrant of my abdomen for several months now and have been getting investigated for gynaelogical problems. But nothing much turned up. I’d had an ultrasound done about 3 wks ago which showed that the two previous cysts that I had were now gone But I’m still having a significant amount of pain so I’m wondering if it might be coming from the colon>

A: I know someone who had pain like that if you’re getting pain and you’ve ruled out gynaecological problems then I think you should look into other stuff like the colon good luck.

Q: Women only. Pelvic pain?
okay. about 2 weeks ago i started to have pain in my pelvis. it started off in one side and is now in both. My period was late and when i got it it was irregular. i’ve made a doctors appoinment but i am just curious if there is anybody who has gone through this and knows what it is…i’ve looked on the internet but i don’t want to start assuming…but i am getting really worried about what it is. if you have any info that would be great..
i’m not pregnant. No chance i have an STD.

A: First off always check if you are pregnant. You can still bleed into many months of being pregnant. If not then move on to other possibilities. There is no way anyone here could diagnose or even guess what is going on but it could be your ovaries. Sometimes ovaries hurt, especially during ovulation…and the pain is call Mittelschmerz ….it means middle cycle pain and is a real phenomenon.
But separate of what the doc’s may say I wouldn’t take a gander without scaring you. Just goto them and demand a full work up….blood, test for STD’s and pregnancy and anything else. Better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck!

additional: glad to hear that! then have your organs checked thoroughly to rule out other stuff. ask if it could have been your ovaries acting up while ovulation??

Q: pelvic pain in women?
hi
i am having off and on pain in my pelvic area since last couple of month but from last day it has gotton worse. here are the symptoms i am feeling can anyone tell me whats going on with me.
1. Pelvic pain specially at right site.
2. constant urges of urine but come very little.
3. having pressure on rectum along with bloating in tummy.
i just want to mention that last month i had my Gynecologist exam and she said everything is fine with me.
Non seriouse people don’t bother to answer; also, the one who have no clue.

A: are you having regular bowel movements? you might be “clogged” and that is putting pressure on your bladder and causing pain and may be why your gyno found nothing wrong in your front area. Try laying off the cheese and go get you some fiber. Eat whole grans, apples and get some cranberry juice. Good luck

Q: Women—–have you been diagnosed with Chronic Pelvic Pain due to Endometriosis? Have you been recommended to?
a Pelvic Pain clinic and did the treatment work?

A: Nope, working through it right now. It’s been about 5 Months in, tons of tests, 4 hospitalizations, and not much to show for it. (a few cysts, they say are unrelated) and this morning I had an ultrasound. Turns out my uterus is prolapsing.. not just tilted. it points down and is starting to turn inside out. I still have an EGD scheduled for March and a colonoscopy.. but, ya, it’s been fun.

No pain centers yet, they are still working on diagnosis, but after this morning , that is exactly the direction they are leaning.

I feel ya, mama! Hope you find some releif soon! Oh, my doctor did give me some Oxy.. and a few brochures on Pelvic Pain, Dysmenorreha and Ovarian Cancer. If you think of any questions, I can look and share.. I remember when glossy brochures were only for fun things … like Vacation!!

Q: Pregnant women with Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP)?
Since i was about 12-14 weeks into my pregnancy i’ve been experiencing pain in my left buttock, i originally thought it was damage to the sciatic nerve because i’d fallen a few weeks before the pain begun, my mum also had sciatica and described the pain the same way i described mine.

The thing is, the pain never went away, infact it’s worse, i looked up PGP and it seems that my symptoms are exactly the same as the symptoms you get when you’ve got PGP and those are similar to sciatica, so i understand why i’ve gotten confused.

So has anyone had PGP? Is it serious? Should i mention it to my midwife or just leave it? Will it go away after the birth? Tips of coping with the pain?

A: I have it. I had it with my daughter 5 years ago and it stayed with me until she was about 1 year old. Painful. Now i’m 35 weeks 3 days with my second child and it came back. I’m hoping it might go away earlier this time. There isn’t really much you can do. Just try to stay off your feet when the pain is worse. Prop your feet up above you heart. The doc’s just say “yeah some people get it and some people don’t and your jsut one of those “lucky” people who get to have it” blahh
I’m sorry you have it. I have PGP and SPD both. yikes I think i also have gallstones this pregnancy for me has not been very comfortable.
Wish you luck

Q: mature women please, pain in pelvic area.?
I know I should go to a Dr, but I am broke and am in between health insurances.

okay, so a couple weeks ago I started to get this really bad pain. It is right next to where my pelvic bone sticks out, to the right of it, that little area that doctors usually push down on when you go for a checkup? well it hurts when it is pushed down, and if I am sitting and I move a certain way it will feel like a sharp shooting pain. Also last night and a couple nights ago while my boyfriend and I were having sex, it really hurt, especially last night. sometimes I wont notice it and other times, it will be this constant dulling pain when I am going throughout my day. Also when I had my period last, I only had it for about 2 or 3 days and it was really light, and mine is usually light, except on the first 2 days it is really heavy.

anyone know what it could be, I have a couple idea’s but im not really sure.

thanks for you imput.

A: Abdominal/pelvic pain that is similar to that of period cramping may indicate a problem in a reproductive organ (like the pain around your ovaries or uterus).

This includes conditions such as endometriosis (when tissue from the uterus is displaced to somewhere else like the pelvic wall or ovaries), uterine fibroids (thick bands of muscular and fibrous tissue in the uterus), ovarian cysts, ovarian cancer (rare), or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) infection of the reproductive organs, usually from a sexually transmitted disease.

If you have pain in your ovary area, you might have an ovarian cyst. I have experienced that same type of pain whenever I have had an ovarian cyst. I was also diagnosed with endometriosis last year which caused me severe pelvic pain and intense and painful period cramping.

If you’re experiencing pain during or after sex there may be several factors that are contributing to the pain you feel. For women there are a number of physical conditions that may make sex hurt, including:

* Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
* Endometriosis
* Ovarian cysts
* Interstitial cystitis
* Vaginismus
* Vulvodynia
* Some sexually transmitted diseases
* Urinary infections
* Yeast infections
* Vaginal dryness
* Physical injury and chronic pain

Based on your symptoms and what you wrote, I would recommend that you should see your doctor/gynaecologist, just to rule out any serious causes.

Good luck :)

Q: causes of women’s pelvic pain?

A: lots of things. fibroids, ovarian cysts, bladder infection… see your doctor.

Q: What could be causing left pelvic pain in a woman?
I was diagnosed w/ endometrosis about a year ago, but there was very little there and I have had minimal pain (outside of my periods) until a few days ago. My normal pain is on the right side and yesterday I suddenly developed moderate/severe sharp left sided pain that seems to come and go. I’m going to schedule a dr. appt, but am wondering what could be wrong in the mean time?
There is no chance of eptopic pregnancy.

A: if it was around mid cycle it could be ovulating pain
